The City Of RCC gives their side of the proposal to shut down the RDA.

Help Stop the Proposal to Kill Local Redevelopment — Protect Jobs and Our Local Economy.

As part of its 2011-12 budget proposal, the Administration has proposed permanently shutting down local redevelopment agencies in California. A broad coalition of local governments, business and labor, environmental leaders, affordable housing advocates and community groups all oppose the proposal to kill redevelopment.
This proposal:

  • Will kill hundreds of thousands of jobs, tens of billions of dollars in local economic development projects, and billions in tax revenues to state and local governments.
  • Represents the same old State budget tactic of raiding local government funds that voters have repeatedly voted to prevent.
  • Over 61% of voters passed Prop. 22 this past November to stop State raids of redevelopment funds.
  • Will not provide any State budget relief after redevelopment agency bond and other contractual obligations are repaid.
  • Violates numerous state and federal constitutional provisions

My observations of the day in RCC

I asked on Twitter what I should take some photos of today and had this conversation: @badtzmarutattoo david @RCHotspots that beastly new clock tower on Milliken/baseline...what’s up with that? badtzmarutattoo @RCHotspots first we thought 'long~awaited AT T 4G tower?' but, alas...tis but an ugly ginormous clock.

RCHotspots RC Hot Spots@@badtzmarutattoo LOL There is a new 4G tower on the 15 North Near the 210. What a huge waste of money that is!

DSC00832   Here is the new “Clock Tower” Maybe it is the new control tower for Ontario Airport. Honestly, I do not have a clue why it is really being built now, do you?

This sounds like it might be fun! There is a new Art & Wine Gallery opening at Towne Center 8800 Haven. The South West corner of Haven & Foothill. I happen to see the alcohol permit on the window. It is the same center that has “Active” A pretty cool place. Snow Boards, Skate Boards, Hip clothing some really nice watches. I spoke with a guy named Oscar, nice guy. AND they have Vans and some  other nice kicks.

The oldest fence in Rancho Cucamonga up the hill on Hermosa off Wilson. This fence was carbon dated to back before dinosaurs. Known as the Etiwandalithiuc Period. It is very old! Made of stone and trees.

Farmers Market & Factory Outlets, my obsevations.

I happen to see a small Farmers Market today on Foothill just east of Rochester in the hotel parking lot.

Yesterday I stopped by a factory outlet store that has been on Haven @ Alta Loma in some form for many years. Is it me or was I just not impressed. Looked like a factory 99 cents store that charged to much for their stuff.

Winco coming to Rancho.

Thanks to Kathleen who gave us this tip, a Winco foods store coming to the Terra Vista Shopping Center. Apparently in the long since available Mervyns location. That part of the center is pretty dry and hopefully this will stimulate some growth in the area.
